Volkmar Henke

Volkmar is patent litigator and particularly active in the areas of mobile communication, semiconductor technology, circuit design, data compression, particularly video and audio coding, and electrical engineering. He advises large multinationals, patent pools and, very often, owners of standard-essential patents. He also coordinates complex international proceedings which are conducted in parallel in multiple jurisdictions.

Volkmar represents clients in patent infringement proceedings as well as in invalidity, opposition, and revocation proceedings before the various infringement courts, in particular before the Unitary Patent Court and before the German patent Courts. Due to his comprehensive experience in conducting and coordinating cross-border patent litigation, he is a much sought-after partner for clients acting on the international stage, particularly in FRAND cases and for patent pools.

Volkmar is one of the rare German trial lawyers who has both a full technical (master’s in physics) and legal qualification. He is the author of a comprehensive textbook about co-ownership of patents.
